Who are Symbion?

What do you need when you’re a small startup company on the very first steps on your career journey? Most would say an office space and networking possibilities – something Symbion can offer! For more than 30 years the Danish company Symbion has hosted many entrepreneurs and growing companies. Located at five places in Copenhagen with a close relation to the universities, Symbion is creating a link between students, entrepreneurs and the more established business community.

Symbion Community is the place where startups have the possibility to test their business ideas and grow their business, connect with other startups and to participate in networking, academic and business events. Did you know that the Danish Billwerk+ office, formerly know as Reepay, was located at the Symbions office space at  the south campus of University of Copenhagen at the beginning of their company journey?

Even though we’ve grown out of Symbion, we’re glad to still keep our business connection with them by offering them our payment gateway and subscription solution.

We talked to Brian List, vice president of Symbion, about their subscription and payment needs.

What made you interested in adding a subscription service?

We needed to provide a flexible service suitable even for our smallest customers. Also, we needed to minimize administration to keep prices down, as these customers are sensitive to pricing.

When we added a subscription service from Billwerk+ it took some time to learn the various benefits and limitations of the system and to learn how to adapt it to our use. But integrating Billwerk+ with our own system made a big difference for our work flow!

Have you noticed any changes after adding a payment gateway and subscription service?

The major changes we have noticed are that we have increased our flexibility, and made our work flow more efficient. With Billwerk+, it’s a lot easier for us to handle customers that don’t pay in due time, and we also notice having more customers that pay in time thanks to the automatic dunning functionality.

The subscription model

Symbion is using a so called network model, where the value of the subscription goes up the more people that are subscribing. The more startups and entrepreneur who are residing with Symbion, the more network connections, knowledge exchange and idea exchanges for growth can happen!

Startups and entrepreneurs clearly benefits from being around other startups and entrepreneurs. The people and the companies that subscribe to the Symbion business idea have an opportunity to build a network simply by being at Symbion’s office hotels. And the more people who join, the better!
